Ethyl cellulose, with adhesive, filling, film formation and other functions, used for resin synthetic plastics, coatings, rubber substitutes, ink, insulation materials, also used as adhesive, textile finishing agent, in addition, can be used as animal feed additives in agriculture and animal husbandry, used as adhesive in electronic products and military propellant.
1. Appearance: EC is a white or light gray fluidity powder, odorless.
2. Properties: the commercialization of EC generally insoluble in water, but soluble in different organic solvents, good thermal stability and burning ash is extremely low, there are very few sticky or send acerbity feeling, can generate tough film, remained bending at low temperature, this product is non-toxic, strong biological resistance, the metabolic inertia, but under the sunlight or ultraviolet oxidation and decomposition. For special purpose EC, there are also varieties dissolved in lye and pure water respectively. For EC with substitution degree above 1.5, the softening point is 135~155℃, the melting point is 165~185℃, the false specific gravity is 0.3~0.4 g/cm3, and the relative density is 1.07~1.18 g/cm3. The degree of etherification of EC affects solubility, water absorption, mechanical properties and thermal properties. The etherification degree increases and the solubility decreases in alkali solution and increases in organic solvent. Soluble in many organic solvents. The usual solvent is a mixture of toluene/ethanol with a weight of 4/1. Etherification degree increased, softening point and hygroscopicity decreased, the use temperature - 60℃~85℃. Tensile strength was 13.7~54.9Mpa, volume resistivity was 10*e12~10*e14 ohm ·cm
