γ-butyrolactone, also known as 1,4-butyrolactone, 4-hydroxybutyrolactone. It is a colorless oily liquid that is miscible with water and soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, ether and benzene. It can be volatilized with water vapor and decomposed in hot alkaline solution. It has a unique aroma and can be used as a flavoring, FEMA No.: 3291.
Application
1)1,4-butyrolactone is widely used as a perfume and a pharmaceutical intermediate.
2)As a high boiling point solvent, it has strong solubility, good electrical properties and stability, and is safe to use.
3)As a proton-type strong solvent, it can dissolve most low molecular polymers and some high molecular polymers, and can be used as a battery electrolyte instead of a strong corrosive acid.
3)It can be used as a carrier in the polymerization reaction and participate in the polymerization reaction.
