How Does UC-II® Work?

UC-II is clinically proven to protect your joints! It contains a patented form of an undenatured collagen type II (UC-II) that has been clinically tested to protect your joints from excessive inflammation and consequent degradation, thus allowing enough time for the cartilage matrix to renew itself. Collagen type II is commonly found in all joints of your body and helps to maintain the integrity of the joint cartilage. Undenatured collagen type II in Caltrate UC-II is specifically processed and extracted using low temperature conditions to retain its native structure, thus making it effective.

Undenatured Collagen type II (UC-II) can support joints in ageing and be equally effective in preventing or reducing further damage caused by wear and tear due to daily activities and strenuous exercises by slowing down cartilage degradation and promoting collagen formation in the joint, and as consequence improving joint flexibility and mobility.

UC-II has been clinically proven to promote healthier joints by way of retraining your body's defence system to recognize undenatured collagen type II found in your joints as friendly material. Taking regular UC-II effectively prevents your immune cells from mounting continuous waves of attacks against your own joint tissue and at the same time stimulates chondrocytes to start producing more collagen, giving joints enough time to start rebuilding healthy cartilage. UC-II has been clinically proven to more effective than glucosamine + chondroitin!

The results of a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study1 have shown that UC-II is more effective than glucosamine hydrochloride + chondroitin sulphate in relieving joint discomfort and joint stiffness. In this study, subjects with osteoarthritis were randomised to consume a daily dose of either 40mg of UC-II, 1500 mg glucosamine plus 1200 mg chondroitin, or a placebo for 180 days. The results of the study revealed that in patients taking regular UC-II, the overall WOMAC score (as a reference of pain and discomfort) was significantly reduced compared with the placebo group, with a significant reduction of parameters of joint stiffness and pain compared with glucosamine + chondroitin treatment group.
