    Tetrahydroxydiboron is mainly used in Suzuki conjugation to synthesize pharmaceutical intermediates. The earliest synthesis of tetrahydroxydiboron can be traced back to 1955, Wartik uses a zinc electrode inserted into liquid boron trichloride to generate boron tetrachloride, and then boron tetrachloride reacts with water to first generate tetrahydroxydiboron, and then heated to 220 °C to dehydrate to generate (BO)X; Chemicalbook In 1961, McCloskey used a drop of quantitative hydrochloric acid to add tetra(dimethylamino)biboron and water mixture at 0 °C to generate tetrahydroxydiboron with a yield of 56%. For nearly fifty years, there was almost no published method in the literature, until 2012, when Molander again mentioned the use of the latter method to synthesize tetrahydroxydiboron.
