About The Detailed Introduction Of Tangerine Peel Extract?

Tangerine peel extract is the dried and mature peel extract of the Rutaceae plant Citrus reticulata Blanco and its cultivated varieties. It mainly contains volatile oils, flavonoids and other active ingredients. Tangerine peel extract can promote humoral immunity and cellular immunity, and has an obvious effect of scavenging oxygen free radicals. It has anti-aging and anti-fatigue effects. It also has the effects of lowering cholesterol, inhibiting experimental ulcers, reducing capillary permeability, enhancing fibrin dissolution, anti-thrombosis, regulating gastrointestinal function and choleretic effects.
Evergreen small tree or shrub, 3-4m tall. Leaves are alternate, single and compound; leaves are lanceolate or oval, 4-11cm long, 1.5-4cm wide, apex acuminate, entire or wavy, bluntly serrated, semi-leafed. Transparent oil spots. Flowers are solitary or several at branch tips and leaf axils, white or light red; calyx is cup-shaped, petals are 5, oblong; stamens are 15-25; pistil is 1. The citrus fruit is nearly round or oblate, red, vermilion, yellow or orange, with 7 to 12 valves. Seeds are oval and white. The flowering period is from March to April, and the fruiting period is from October to December. Cultivated in hills, low mountain areas, along rivers and lakes or plains. It is produced in all orange-producing areas across the country. Harvesting and processing: When the fruit is mature, the peel is prepared and dried in the sun.

    Chemical Composition

    1. Flavonoids
As a major category of physiologically active components of tangerine peel, many types of flavonoids have been isolated and identified, mainly including flavones, flavanones, hesperidin, nobiletin, neohesperidin, naringin, and rue pomelo peel. Glycosides, and polymethoxyflavonoids, etc.
    2. Volatile Oils
The volatile oil content of tangerine peel is 1.5% to 2%. The main components of the oil are α-Thujene (α-Thujene), α-Pinene (α-Pinene), β-pinene, and β-myrcene (β-Myrcene). , Octanal, limonene, Terpineol-4, Citronellol, carvacrol, octanol, etc.
    3. Limonoids
Limonoids are metabolites of citrus plants. Currently, these substances are widely studied. Among them, limonin, obacone and nomilin are abundant. This is a highly oxidizing tetracyclic compound. Triterpenoids usually exist in the form of glycosides and aglycones. The main reason for the bitter taste is that the neutral aglycones have poor water solubility, but the acidic limonoids are just the opposite and can be dissolved in water. And there is little bitter taste. Research shows that the structure of limonoid analogs is easy to change during processing. The main factors are: temperature, contact time with light and temperature, and pH value. These factors will affect the stability of limonoids. Properties and activities are relatively stable when the pH value is 5 to 7.
    4.Alkaloids
Research shows that more than twenty alkaloids have been isolated from citrus plants. The main alkaloid components in tangerine peel are synephrine and N-methyltyramine. 5. Other ingredients: Tangerine peel also contains polyphenols, pectin (content 15%-30%), inositol, trace elements and other ingredients. Thymol and β-sitosterol were obtained from orange peel for the first time.

    What Are The Benefits?

    1. Effect On Cardiovascular System
Chenpi decoction, alcohol extract and hesperidin can excite both isolated and in situ frog hearts. Chenpi decoction can dilate coronary arteries. Intravenous injection of hesperidin can increase cardiac contractility and cardiac output in rabbits in situ, but has little effect on heart rate. Large doses of methylhesperidin can slow down the beating of isolated atrial chambers of guinea pigs and weaken their contractility. Hesperidin, hesperidin-chalcone, and hesperidin-methylchalcone all have varying degrees of coronary artery expansion in isolated rabbit hearts. Intravenous infusion of 40 mg/kg of methylhesperidin in dogs can reduce coronary resistance, increase coronary flow, reduce blood pressure, and slow down heart rate for more than 30 minutes.
    2. Hepatoprotective And Choleretic Effect
The methanol extract of tangerine peel has a protective effect on α-naphthyl isothiocyanate (ANIT)-induced liver damage in rats. Chenpi not only inhibits the increase in serum bilirubin concentration caused by ANIT, but also inhibits the release of intrahepatic enzymes that are parameters of liver parenchymal damage. Subcutaneous injection of methylhesperidin 100 or 500mg/kg into anesthetized rats can increase the excretion of bile and solid substances in bile. Combined use of vitamin C and vitamin K4 can enhance the choleretic effect. Limonene has an ideal stone-dissolving effect on cholesterol stones. Chenpi has the effect of relaxing the gallbladder.
    3. Expectorant And Antiasthmatic Effects
Volatile oil has a stimulating and expectorant effect, and the main active ingredient is limonene. The fresh decoction was used for tracheal perfusion in rabbits. The flow rate of the perfusate was slightly accelerated and it seemed to have a dilation effect on the bronchi. The alcohol extract at a concentration of 0.02g (crude drug)/mL can completely resist the spasmodic contraction of isolated guinea pig bronchi caused by histamine. Preliminary clinical observations also prove that it has a certain effect on bronchial asthma. Nobiletin has a bronchodilatory effect in the isolated trachea test of guinea pigs and intravenous injection into anesthetized cats, and its intensity is slightly inferior to that of aminophylline. However, intramuscular injection, enema or gastric administration are ineffective.
    4. Anti-Inflammatory And Anti-Allergic Effects
Both hesperidin and methylhesperidin have vitamin P-like effects. Intraperitoneal injection of hesperidin 175 to 250 mg/kg in mice has the effect of antagonizing viper toxin or lysolecithin and increasing vascular permeability. Intraperitoneal injection of 10 mg of hesperidin per mouse can also antagonize the increase in vascular permeability caused by histamine. Hesperidin also inhibits the inflammatory response of croton oily granulocyst in rats, significantly reducing intracystic exudate. Phosphoryl hesperidin also inhibits hyaluronidase. Hesperidin was administered orally to rabbits at a dose of 20 to 25 mg/kg per day. Whether administered for 7 days in advance or 7 days before and after the experiment, it had the effect of alleviating the symptoms of ear frostbite caused by ethyl chloride. Nobiletin can significantly antagonize the allergic contraction of the isolated ileum and bronchi of egg white-sensitized guinea pigs.
    5. Reduce Blood Lipids And Prevent And Treat Atherosclerosis
Phosphoryl hesperidin can reduce serum cholesterol in experimental hyperlipidemic rabbits. It can significantly reduce and improve the atherosclerotic lesions of the aorta, and prolong the survival time of rats due to thrombosis or atherosclerosis. Hesperidin can prolong the survival time of rats fed "angiogenic" and "atherosclerotic" diets respectively. Feeding rabbits with orange peel pectin can significantly reduce the area of aortic atherosclerotic plaques shaped by high-fat diet, significantly reduce the maximum thickness of aortic arch atherosclerotic plaques and the ratio of aortic arch intima to media thickness, and can significantly reduce Reduce the degree of hepatocellular lipidosis.
    6. Effect On The Uterus
The decoction has an inhibitory effect on the isolated uterus of mice, and high concentration makes it completely relaxed. However, when the decoction is injected intravenously, the uterus of anesthetized rabbits will contract tonic at first, and then return to normal after 15 minutes. The reaction to the uterus in a resting state is also very sensitive. Methylhesperidin at a concentration of 5×10-3 can completely inhibit the movement of the isolated uterus in rats and has an antagonizing effect on uterine muscle spasm caused by acetylcholine. It has an inhibitory effect on the contraction of isolated rat uterine smooth muscle caused by 5-hydroxytryptamine.
    7. Antibacterial And Antiviral Effects
Chenpi can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Neisseria catarrhalis, and Haemolyticus hemolyticus in test tubes. The mixture of tangerine peel and banyan tree also has antibacterial effects in the test tube. Hela cells pre-treated with nobiletin can prevent influenza virus infection. The antiviral activity of nobiletin can be eliminated by hyaluronase.
    8. Effect On Immune Function
Chenpi injection (prepared by boiling and alcohol precipitation method) has a significant enhancement effect on guinea pig serum lysozyme content, serum hemagglutination antibody titer, and cardiovascular T lymphocyte E rosette formation rate, but has a significant effect on T lymphocyte transformation rate inhibitory effect.
    9. Antioxidant Effect
Hesperidin has a significant scavenging effect on hydroxyl radicals (·OH), inhibits the generation of malondialdehyde (MDA), a lipid peroxidation product, and has significant anti-lipid peroxidation effects. Studies have proven that sweet orange peel extract (containing 7.29% hesperidin) has the effect of scavenging O2- and inhibiting lipid peroxidation induced by O2-.
    10.Other Functions
Giving tangerine peel powder to mice and rabbits by gavage has the effect of shortening the bleeding time and coagulation time. The powder baked into charcoal medicine has a stronger effect of shortening the coagulation time than the crude medicine. It is reported that hesperidin, which contains oxidation products, has the effect of raising blood sugar in rabbits. Its 60mg/kg and 0.05mg/kg epinephrine effects are equivalent, but the pure product is ineffective. Hesperidin also increases the toxic effects of epinephrine in mice. This may be related to the fact that hesperidin inhibits catechol oxygen methyltransferase (COMT), thereby reducing the destruction of epinephrine. Tangerine peel water decoction can increase amylase activity in isolated saliva. In addition, both hesperidin and hesperidin methylchalcone reduced the incidence of experimental dental caries in wild rats. Chenpi extract can kill mosquitoes, flies, etc. Its active ingredient d-limonene has significant contact and fumigation effects on mosquitoes, and its thymol has a certain repellent effect on mosquitoes. Chenpi has the effect of inhibiting sebum secretion, which can cause the function loss of 20% to 30% of sebum cells, inhibiting sebum secretion.
