Stevia, biological name Stevia rebaudiana (Bertoni) Hemsl. Perennial herb, 100-150cm high. Stems erect, semi-lignified at the base, about 1cm thick, and many branches. Leaves opposite; sessile; leaves obovate to broadly lanceolate, 5-10cm long and 1.5-3.5cm wide.
It is native to the alpine grasslands of the border between Paraguay and Brazil in South America. It is now planted in Beijing, Hebei, Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Fujian, Hunan, Yunnan and other places.
Indications and uses: The sweetness of stevia extract is 250 to 450 times that of sucrose, and it is the natural sweetener closest to the taste of sugar. After being ingested into the human body, it is not absorbed and does not produce calories. It is a sweetener suitable for patients with diabetes and obesity. It can be widely used in various food, beverage, medicine and daily chemical industries. It can be said that almost all sugar products can use stevia to replace part of sucrose and all of the synthetic sweeteners.
