Silver nitrate is a colorless crystal easily soluble in water. Pure silver nitrate is photostable, but its aqueous solution and solids are often stored in brown reagent bottles due to insufficient purity of common products. Used in photographic emulsion, silver plating, mirror making, printing, medicine, hair dyeing, testing chloride ion, bromine ion and iodide ion, etc. Also used in electronic industry.

Colorless transparent rhombic crystal, soluble in water and ammonia, soluble in ether and glycerin, slightly soluble in anhydrous ethanol, almost insoluble in concentrated nitric acid. Its aqueous solution is weakly acidic. Silver nitrate solution because of containing a large number of silver ions, oxidation, and a certain degree of corrosiveness, on the medical used for corrosion hyperplasia granulation tissue, dilute solution for eye infection fungicide. It is a light yellow liquid after melting and white after curing.

Analytical chemistry is used to precipitate chloride ions and working reference silver nitrate is used to calibrate sodium chloride solutions. Inorganic industries are used to make other silver salts. The electronic industry is used to manufacture conductive adhesive, new gas purifier, A8x molecular sieve, silver-plated uniform suit and electric working glove. The photosensitive industry is used in the manufacture of photographic materials such as film, X-ray film and photographic film. The plating industry is used for silver-plating of electronic components and other handicrafts, and also for silver-plating of mirrors and heat-preservation bottles. The battery industry is used to produce silver and zinc batteries. Used medicinally as a fungicide or caustic. The daily chemical industry is used for dyeing hair and so on. Used in analytical chemistry for the determination of chlorine, bromine, iodocyanide and thiocyanate.
