The descriptions:

Salacia oblonga is a woody plant found in India, Sri Lanka, China, and other Southeast Asian countries. The roots and stems of Salacia oblonga have been used extensively in Ayurveda and traditional Indian Medicine for the treatment for Diabetes. A few studies have looked at the effects in humans and the early results are promising in terms of blood sugar control.

Extracts from Salacia species (including Salacia chinensis, Salacia reticulata, and Salacia oblonga) are consumed in Japan, Korea, the United States, and India as a food supplement to prevent and manage obesity and diabetes.
