Applications:
(1) Natural food coloring: phycocyanin is a water-soluble pigment, non-toxic, pure blue, bright and lovely, can be used as food coloring agent, cosmetics additive.
(2) Medical and health food: phycocyanin in vitro experiment can stimulate the formation of erythrocyte colonies, similar to erythropoietin (EPO). A variety of phycocyanin compound drugs have been successfully developed abroad. Japan Kangpai AIDS Research Institute has reported that phycocyanin can improve anemia and improve hemoglobin successfully. In 1982, Iijima et al. studied that oral phycocyanin improved the survival rate of mice injected with liver tumor cells, and the lymphocyte activity of mice in the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group. They believed that this protein could promote immunity and anti-disease function. In 1986, Schwartz and Shklar at Harvard Hospital in the United States found that spirulina phycocyanin had an inhibitory effect on some cancer cells.
(3) Special reagents for biology, chemistry and cytology experiments: phycocyanin blue and fluorescent, can be used as biological, cytology some photodynamic research reagents.
