    1. Product introduction

     Olivetolic Acid is a naturally occurring compound that plays a vital role in the biosynthesis of cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. This unique acid is classified as a type III polyketide synthase intermediate and is responsible for the formation of the cannabinoid precursor cannabigerolic acid (CBGA). It gets its name from the olive tree because its chemical properties are similar to Olivetolic Acid, a fatty acid in olive oil. Structurally, Olivetolic Acid consists of a heptapeptide chain, which is a carbon backbone composed of seven acetate units. This compound is a key component of cannabinoid biosynthesis. Specifically, it is a substrate for an enzyme called olive acid cyclase (OAC), which converts Olivetolic Acid to CBGA. CBGA is then converted into various cannabinoids through a series of enzymatic reactions. Cannabinoid formation is a complex process involving the activation of specific enzymes and the conversion of CBGA into different acidic and neutral cannabinoids, such as  THCA and cannabidiolic acid (CBDA). These acidic cannabinoids are then decarboxylated through processes such as heating or aging, converting them into the active forms THC and CBD respectively. Olivetolic Acid is not unique to the cannabis plant. It is also found in some liverworts and liverwort-derived plants. However, its role in cannabinoid biosynthesis has made it the focus of research in the cannabis industry. While Olivetolic Acid itself does not possess any significant pharmacological properties, its role as a precursor is crucial for the production of cannabinoids, which have a range of benefits. The best-known OTA-derived cannabinoids, such as THC and CBD, have been extensively studied for their potential roles in relieving pain, reducing inflammation, controlling nausea, and more.
