Derived from Tetracycline, Limecycline is a broad spectrum tetracycline antibiotic. The high level of absorption of Limecycline allows it to be used at lower doses than the other tetracyclines; The standard dose of 408 mg is equivalent to 300 mg of tetracycline base. and in its action level at 600 mg of tetracycline hydrochloride. Limecycline, like other antibiotics, has been shown to be effective on a wide range of bacteria, and its good absorption profile makes it preferable to the use of tetracycline for the treatment of moderate to severe acne, and is usually prescribed for 8 weeks, but If no noticeable changes are seen within three weeks, other alternatives should be considered.
