L-Glutathione powder (GSH) is a tripeptide consisting of glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine, and contains sulfhydryl groups. Glutathione (GSH) has antioxidant and integrated detoxification effects. The sulfhydryl group on cysteine is the glutathione active group (hence the glutathione is often referred to as g-SH), which is easy to combine with some drugs (such as paracetamol) and toxins (such as free radicals, iodoacetic acid, mustard gas, lead, , arsenic and other heavy metals), and thus has integrated detoxification effect. The whitening mechanism of glutathione:
Reduced l glutathione powder can reduce tyrosinase activity in three different ways. Tyrosinase is directly inhibited by sulfhydryl chelating copper sites. Secondly, glutathione interferes with the cell transfer of tyrosinase to premelanosomes, which is a prerequisite for melanin synthesis. Third, the inhibition of tyrosinase is achieved indirectly through its antioxidant effect. Glutathione transfers melanogenesis from eumelanin to pheomelanin synthesis through the reaction between sulfhydryl and dopaquinone, resulting in the formation of sulfhydryl-dopa conjugates. Glutathione has a strong antioxidant capacity and has been proven to eliminate the reactive oxygen species produced in epidermal cells induced by ultraviolet radiation.
