Product Introduction

Huperzine A is a plant alkaloid derived from the Huperzia serrata. Huperzine A is an Acetylcholinesterase inhibitor similar to other compounds donepezil, rivastigmine, and galantamine. In the US, Huperzine A is sold as a dietary supplement for memory support. The botanical Huperzia serrata in Chinese folk medicine under the name Qian Ceng Ta (Chien Tseng Ta),which has been used in China for centuries for the treatment of swelling, fever and blood disorders. Clinical trials report has shown it to be effective in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, and has been shown to enhance memory in healthy young students in one study. "Huperzine A is a promising drug for symptomatic treatment of Alzheimer's disease." Because of possible activities in the brain, Huperzine A also is being considered for potential use in preventing nerve gas poisoning.
