PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Genipin is the product of geniposide hydrolyzed by β-glucosidase.It is an excellent natural biological cross-linking agent. It can be cross-linked with protein, collagen, gelatin and chitosan to make biological materials. Lower than glutaraldehyde and other common chemical crosslinkers. It can also be used for liver disease, blood pressure, laxative and so on. Genipin can also be used as a fingerprinting reagent and a cross-linking agent for the preparation of immobilized enzymes.

PRODUCT FUNCTION

①Genipin stimulates glucose uptake in a time- and dose -dependent manner. Maximum effect was achieved at 2 hours at a concentration of 10 μM.

②Genipin increases ATP levels, closes KATP channels, and then increases the concentration of calcium in the cytoplasm of C2C12 myotubes.

③Genipin increases mitochondrial membrane potential, which then increases ATP levels and closes KATP channels, thereby stimulating insulin secretion in pancreatic beta cells.

④It is even used as a natural dye because it has the coloring properties of protein textiles

⑤Bridging the free amino groups of lysine or hydroxylysine residues of differ ent polypeptide chains through monomeric or oligomeric cross-linking in collagen.

⑥Genipin has a range of key properties such as anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective,neurogenic and antidepressant effects.

⑦Genipin has a variety of biological activities, including protein regulation,immunosuppression and protection of hippocampal neurons.

APPLICATIONS

A natural cross-linking agent, extracted from gardenia fruit. Can prevent lipid peroxidation and nitric oxide production. Genipin protects hippocampal neurons from Alzheimer's disease beta amyloid toxicity.

Genipin cross-linking is used in myocardial matrix hydrogels, decellularized spinal cord, or whole liver decellularized grafts, where it has been shown to have lower cytotoxicity and in vivo immunogenicity than its glutaraldehyde-treated counterparts thing.
