What is Fucoidan?

Fucoidan is a unique natural active polysaccharide containing sulfate groups in brown algae. It mainly exists in the cell wall matrix, intercellular space and secreted mucus of kelp, wakame, macroalgae, fucus and other brown algae. It can protect the water of marine plants, and even in very harsh environments such as strong sunlight exposure, it can still ensure the survival of marine brown algae.

1. Protective function of stomach

Structural composition of fucoidan

The structure of fucoidan is very complex. On the one hand, the fucoidan of different species of brown algae has different chemical compositions. In addition to the main components of fucose and sulfate, it also contains other monosaccharides (mannose, galactose, glucose, etc.) and uronic acid, some also have acetyl groups and proteins; on the other hand, the structure of fucoidan in different species of brown algae is also different, and the fucoidan obtained by different extraction methods may also have different structures, Ponce et al. Fucoidan extracted from room temperature is mainly composed of fucose, galactose and sulfate, while the fucoidan extracted at 70 °C is mainly composed of fucose and other monosaccharides (most mannose, small part of glucose, xylose, rhamnose and galactose), as well as a large amount of uronic acid and a small part of sulfate.

By what mechanism does fucoidan fight against Helicobacter pylori?

1. Break the protective layer of ammonia cloud
