Antitumor activity
Effects of emodin on solid sarcoma s-180 in mice, liver cancer, breast cancer, Ehrlich's ascites cancer, lymphatic sarcoma,
Rhubarb of the polygonaceae family
Rhubarb of the polygonaceae family
Melanoma and rat wacke tumor and lung cancer A-549 have inhibitory effect, the inhibition rate of more than 30%. At the daily dose of 50mg/kg, the inhibition rate of melanoma growth in mice was 73%. The inhibition rate of breast cancer in mice at 75mg/kg daily -1 dose was 45%. Emodin prolongs the survival of P388 leukemia mice, and the prolongation rate is over 40%. One of its mechanisms is to inhibit the biosynthesis of DNA, RNA and protein of cancer cells and inhibit the oxidative dehydrogenation of cancer cells. [1]
Resistance to microbial growth
Emodin can inhibit staphylococcus aureus 209P, streptococcus aureus, diphtheria bacillus, bacillus subtilis, paratyphoid bacillus, dysentery bacillus, escherichia coli, influenza bacillus, pneumococcus and catarrh. It has strong inhibitory effect on clinical common anaerobic bacteria. The MIC was slightly higher than metronidazole, and the growth of 76%~91% anaerobic bacteria was inhibited at 8 g/ml concentration. The antibacterial mechanism of emodin is related to inhibition of electron transport in mitochondrial respiratory chain, inhibition of respiration and oxidation and dehydrogenation of amino acids, sugars and protein metabolites. Inhibit the final result of nucleic acid and protein synthesis, so that bacterial growth is inhibited. [1]
immunosuppression
Intraperitoneal injection of emodin at a dose of 70mg/kg can inhibit the production of rat antibodies, inhibit the clearance ability of carbon particles, reduce the weight of immune organs, reduce the number of white blood cells, and reduce the phagocytic function of abdominal macrophages. In vitro, 10mg/ml concentration showed significant inhibitory effect on lymphocyte instillation of [3H] -tdr and [3H] -urd.
Antispasmodic and antitussive effects
The effect of emodin on intestinal spasm induced by acetylcholine was 4 times that of linoleine. Emodin also has a significant effect on relieving cough.
