Products Description:
D-pinitol is a form of pinitol, a naturally-occurring compound found in certain plants, trees and foods, such as soy. Studies show that it has insulin-like (nutrient storage capability much like alpha lipoic acid) effects, driving creatine and other nutrients into muscle cells. This is thought to accelerate muscle growth and improve recovery by forcing more nutrients into the muscles. It may be possible to stabilise blood sugar levels with D-Pinitol and ALA, helping conditions of hyper or hypoglycaemia, caused by fat loss dieting or poor diet.
Most experts recommend that D-pinitol be combined with creatine and a small amount of carbohydrate (20-30 grams). Anyone seeking rapid gains in muscle size, strength and power will benefit from Creatine. Athletes involved in strength and power-based sports, bodybuilders and regular gym users will notice significant gains in both muscular size and performance. More recent studies show that Creatine also enhances performance during endurance exercise, such as long-distance running or football.
HOW DOES D-PINITOL WORK?
D-pinitol is a natural methyl-inositol extracted from natural sources. As demonstrated in a series of well-controlled studies at St. John's University in New York, it promotes glucose transport and glycogen synthesis, making it a very attractive supplement for the serious athlete or weekend warrior looking for increased energy and endurance.
D-pinitol is very popular with people who want to use creatine, but don't want the extra calories and sugar contained in many creatine-based supplements. Rather than just using a bucket load of sugar, one can now prime their insulin hormone and use insulin mimicking substances such as D-Pinitol and ALA to enhance absorption and utilisation. In a trial completed at Arkansas State University, researchers examined whether co-ingestion of D-pinitol with creatine affects whole body creatine retention. The results show that D-Pinitol increases whole body creatine retention to the same extent as high levels of carbohydrate or carbohydrate and protein, making this a suitable and very optimistic compound for sports application.
The effects of Pinitol have been described by noted experts such as Dr. Daniel Gwartney, M.D. Writing in Ironman magazine, Gwartney points out that "... of all the proposed so-called insulin mimickers and insulin co-factors, pinitol is the one with the most promise." The effectiveness of Pinitol has been known by top US experts for some time, and it has been awarded two U.S. Patents (#5,550,166 and #5,827,896).
D-pinitol will increase creatine uptake to the same extent as large doses of carbohydrate, but without the extra calories and sugar. This will lead to faster muscle growth, greater strength and an increase in power output. It will also mean better health and care of your pancreas and secretion of insulin in safe and effective doses instead of overdosing.
HOW MUCH AND WHEN?
D-pinitol should be combined with creatine and a small amount of carbohydrate (20-30 grams) for best results. For every 5 grams of Creatine, consume 25-30 milligrams of D-pinitol.
