Copovidone is a white powder or transparent, translucent solution, odorless or slightly characteristic odor, soluble in water, ethanol and other organic solvents, with good adhesion, hygroscopicity, film-forming and surface activity. It can be used as a binder in wet tablet processing, dry granulation and powder direct pressing processes to improve particle compressibility, as a coating film former for tablet film coating, as a pore-forming agent for flavor masking and extended-release formulations, and as a solubilizer in solid dispersion processes.
