Product Introduction
Chondroitin sulfate is a sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG) composed of a chain of alternating sugars (N-acetylgalactosamine and glucuronic acid). Since the molecule of chondroitin sulfate has multiple negative charges at physiological pH, a cation is present in salts of chondroitin sulfate. Commercial preparations of chondroitin sulfate typically are the sodium salt. The chondroitin sulfate of Sunfull Company is mostly extracted from bovine cartilage. And it also can be extracted from chicken, porcine and shark cartilage in China. Chondroitin sulfate is an important structural component of cartilage and provides much of its resistance to compression. Along with glucosamine and/or Methyl Sulfonyl Methane(MSM), chondroitin sulfate has become a widely used dietary supplement for treatment of osteoarthritis. Chondroitin is considered safe for human; it is regulated in the U.S. as a dietary supplement by the Food and Drug Administration. In Europe, chondroitin sulfate formulations are approved as drugs with evidenced efficacy and safety demonstrated by clinical trials in osteoarthritis patients. .
