Phenethyl Caffeate CAS 104594-70-9
Product Description:
Caffeic acid phenethyl ester is an organic compound with the chemical formula C17H16O4, abbreviated as CPAE. It is one of the main active components of propolis and has efficacy against herpes viruses. It is also inhibited by components in propolis, including adenoviruses and influenza viruses. CAPE has a specific killing effect on tumor cells. A very small concentration can improve the inflammatory response caused by tumor factor (12-0-tetradecyl furfurol 13-acetate).
The structure of CAPE contains a 0-dihydroxy (catech-ol) phenyl structure, which is a common structure for scavenging free radicals. It also has two ortho phenolic hydroxyl groups, which increase the electron density on the benzene ring and make it prone to automatic oxidation and discoloration. Bors et al. reported that the 0-dihydroxybenzene ring structure plays an important role in the antioxidant effect of flavonoids. The chemical composition of propolis varies in different regions, resulting in different levels of CAPE. Studies have shown that propolis produced in China has a relatively high CAPE content, reaching 15-25mg/g, while propolis produced in Brazil does not contain CAPE.
Product Function:
Caffeic acid phenethyl ester, abbreviated as CPAE, is one of the main active components of propolis and is effective against herpes viruses. Other viruses that are inhibited by the components in propolis include adenoviruses and influenza viruses. The substances such as CAPE, quercetin, isoprene ester, rhamnolipids, galangin, glycosides, polysaccharides, etc. in propolis have anti-cancer activity, can inhibit tumor cell proliferation, and have a certain toxic effect on cancer cells. Moreover, CAPE has a specific killing effect on tumor cells. Jeng et al. believe that CAPE is involved in inducing natural cell death and has cytotoxic effects on malignant lesion tissues. CAPE can improve the inflammatory response caused by tumor factor (12-0-tetradecyl furfurose-13-acetate) at extremely low concentrations.
