Usage
Function of Metformin Hydrochloride
Metformin hydrochloride is a hypoglycemic drug, which is commonly used by patients with type II diabetes. At present, it is the first-line hypoglycemic drug recommended by Chinese guidelines and foreign guidelines. The main pharmacological effect is to inhibit liver glucose output and improve peripheral tissues’ insulin resistance. Sensitivity to glucose, increase glucose uptake and standby, so as to reduce blood sugar, metformin can reduce glycosylated hemoglobin by 1%-2%. In addition, metformin does not increase weight and does not cause hypoglycemia when used alone. This is also a relatively large advantage of metformin in terms of safety. Studies in recent years have shown that metformin has other effects besides lowering blood sugar, such as improving blood lipids, lowering triglyceride and cholesterol levels, and also reducing platelet aggregation, so it is beneficial to delay or improve vascular complications in diabetic patients . Metformin also has the effect of suppressing appetite, and many obese patients are more suitable to use metformin for weight loss. In short, metformin is a relatively effective drug for lowering blood sugar.
