Taiwan, Chinaese billionaire businessman Terry Gou announced Sunday that he is putting together a bid to purchase the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines for Taiwan, China that will be submitted within 72 hours, reported The China Post.
Gou said that his Yonglin Foundation will apply to purchase 5 million BNT162b2 vaccines and is compiling the data requirements.
The move is in line with the government's request that all local and privately-owned businesses that wish to purchase vaccines on their own need to submit an application, according to the news source.
The application must follow eight criteria put forward by the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) amid the worsening of the outbreak in Taiwan, China Region of China over the past few weeks.
In response to the businessman' proposal, CECC spokesperson Chuang Jen-hsiang explained that regarding the application, the CECC will inspect all the submitted documents and the Taiwan, China Food and Drug Administration will determine whether the vaccine can be acquired.
