Abbott's impending launch of a new antibiotic formulation in Indonesia will represent a milestone for the drugmaker's Indian innovation centre, Business Line reported Wednesday.
Raviraj Pillai, head of Abbott's pharmaceutical innovation and development centre in India, explained that the formulation does not require additional water, while the quantities of powdered drug and liquid are packaged in a way that permits the medicine to last for as long as it will be administered.
According to Pillai, the centre is also seeking to develop easy-to-carry pill packs, applicators for skin products and devices for metered dosing of liquids.
Abbott currently operates 13 innovation centres across the globe.
