Iran and Mauritania have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on a wide range of health cooperation issues. The MoU deals in particular with the prevention of diseases, medical coverage, exchange of expertise, sending of specialized missions and equipment of health facilities in Mauritania, Africa.
The MoU was signed in Tehran by Mauritanian Health Minister Kane Boubacar and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Qazizadeh Hasehmi.
The memorandum provides for the exchange of data and information on contagious diseases, creation of health networks and sharing of experiences in the field of monitoring the quality of medicines and medical equipment.
The parties also agreed to cooperate on training through scholarship programmes for medical and paramedic students, in addition to additional internships for the current year and the next two years. They also decided to expand their cooperation to include research on malaria, HIV-AIDS and maternal and child health.
