ScaleMatrix, operator of a life sciences incubator and data center in San Diego, is teaming up with genomic informatics vendor OnRamp Bioinformatics and cloud storage company Cloudian in an effort to speed up sequencing analysis and lower the cost of data storage.
According to the news reported by Genomeweb, the three partners are looking to improve the efficiency of data analysis by combining their technologies and taking advantage of a six-month-old ScaleMatrix facility, Cloudian Chief Marketing Officer Jon Toor told GenomeWeb. ScaleMatrix operates a 14,000-square-foot data center and a CLIA-certified genomics laboratory that also houses a business incubator and co-working facility for bioinformatics and genetics startups.
"Cloudian’s petabyte-scalable storage is the ideal platform to quickly and cost-effectively accommodate the data volumes inherent in genomic research," ScaleMatrix Cofounder Chris Orlando said in a statement. "OnRamp BioInformatics completes the solution with an intuitive user experience, workflow automation and comprehensive data and analysis tracking to increase storage efficiency and research productivity."
ScaleMatrix has had a partnership with Cloudian for several years. "If you put together a very high-efficiency, high-density data center, an affordable workplace, a genomics lab that is CLIA-certified, and the tools and capabilities that OnRamp brings together, we've [created a] cradle-to-grave solution where someone can have an idea, run tests and development against it, prove a concept, show their work product, and manage data," Orlando added in an interview.
