Vadodara – based Alembic Pharmaceuticals launched its state-of-the-art anti-cancer manufacturing facility at Halol, Vadodara, with an investment of Rs 300 crores. The facility was inaugurated by Vijaybhai Rupani, Chief Minister, Gujarat
Rupani announced that presently there are 250 generics stores across Gujarat and by the end of 2017, there will be around 1000 generic medicine stores. The new anti-cancer manufacturing facility is in lines with Central Government’s policy to provide affordable medicine access to all, which will help the population access cancer medicines from a homegrown company itself.
Chirayu Amin, CEO and Chairman, Alembic Group of Companies said, "This facility has been designed not only to produce high quality stringent regulatory compliance medicines but also it has ensured personal safety requirements."
The company had a capex plan of Rs 1,500 crores for the next three to four years to set up four manufacturing facilities, one of which was inaugurated today.
The new facility will initial manufacture capacity of 60 million tablets / capsules and approximately 20 million vials of liquid injectable and lyophilised concentrates. With this new facility, the company will expand its presence in the growing global oncology segment and will commence oncology products exports to the US, the Middle East, North Frica Australia and South Africa.
