Global logistics provider DHL Supply Chain has opened a new and advanced pharmaceutical grade facility at Ireland’s Dublin Airport to expand its global supply chain capability.
The new life sciences facility, located at Horizon Logistics Park by the Irish airport, is fully approved by the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA).
DHL Supply Chain Ireland managing director Ciaran Foley said: "We are very excited to open this site in Dublin dedicated to the life sciences sector in Ireland.
"DHL has already established an excellent life sciences customer base and reputation in Ireland through its air, ocean, road and express divisions and this new site gives customers access to a completely integrated global logistics solution.
"Our investment in Horizon also gives us the opportunity to provide supply chain services which are fully compliant and managed within strict regulatory controls from start to finish."
The secure facility will enable pharmaceutical firms in Ireland to offer fully-compliant, temperature-controlled, end-to-end supply chain management, including storage, pick and pack, and inventory control.
DHL has made plans to expand the service across the temperature regimes, along with offering value-added repack and postponement services.
Over the coming months, the company’s new logistics centre is expected to generate up to 50 job opportunities.
The new site, with an area of 40,000ft2 of warehousing space, will offer improved logistics solution for pharmaceutical companies based in the country.
Separated into varied temperature regimes, the new facility provides a wide range of storage environments, such as ambient (15oC to 25oC), chill (2o to 8o), and a blast and holding freezer capable of temperatures of -20oC.
