Methyl Beta Cyclodextrin (M-β-CD) is the most effective cosolvent for insoluble substances and the best stabilizer for many chemicals. Because M-β-CD has excellent solubilization and inclusion, and because it is soluble in water and organic solvents, it is widely used in medicine, food, pesticide, cosmetics, daily chemicals, chemical industry, textile dyeing and finishing, chromatographic analysis and functional materials.
Cyclodextrin is used for dyeing and processing of textiles, which can be used as dye aid and dye stabilizer. it can also prevent the effect of surfactant on dye absorbance. In addition, cyclodextrin dye complex is used to replace the traditional dye formula in dyeing process, and the residual dye in wastewater is reduced.
In the finishing of textiles after processing, cyclodextrin can be used in enzyme processing, improve enzyme activity, increase treatment efficiency, and remove surfactants from textiles by washing process. These applications are more reported. but because the solubility of β- cyclodextrin (β-CD) in water is too low (1.85% at room temperature), it restricts its application. β-CD derivatives, especially Methyl Beta Cyclodextrin, are ideal products. it can significantly improve the solubility of β-CD in water and is cheap and suitable for printing and dyeing applications.
In order to achieve the purpose of leveling, additives are usually used in the dyeing process of synthetic fibers. Methyl Beta Cyclodextrin was used to increase the solubility and slow release of dyes. For example, Methyl Beta Cyclodextrin and dyes can form 3:1 complex, dyeing experiments have proved that it can obviously improve the coloring strength and dyeing uniformity. the concentration of dye increases with the concentration of Methyl Beta Cyclodextrin, and the solubility of dye increases with the increase of temperature. Recently, it has been reported that the production of antibacterial deodorant textiles with Methyl Beta Cyclodextrin. liquid formulation for polyester fabric treatment containing methyl beta cyclodextrin inclusions, polyethylene glycol diisobutyenoic acid, isobutenoic acid, trimethylolpropane, water, and acetic acid (pH5). The fabric is impregnated with treatment solution and treated with heat and moisture, so that the blanching fabric shows good antibacterial activity and deodorization. high safety antibacterial sheets, sanitary liners, napkins, wipes, pet supplies ~ other non-wovens were produced by wrapping 0.01% and 2% active iodine with methyl beta cyclodextrin. This product can control the release of active iodine and has good antibacterial effect on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
