Carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin (CM-β-CD), as one of the cyclodextrin derivatives, is mainly prepared by the reaction of cyclodextrin with chloroacetic acid in alkaline environment. The reaction conditions are mild, the reaction process is simple and the yield is high. Cm-β-CD contains carboxyl anion, which has high solubility and enveloping effect. Cm-β-CD has been used in chromatographic separation as early as 1980s. In recent years, due to the excellent performance of CM-β-CD, CM-β-CD has been widely used in adsorbents, molecular self-assembly, chromatographic additives and drug carriers. In addition, CM-β- CD can be further polymerized and grafted with other polymers, inorganic or organic materials to form new functional materials, which has become one of the hot spots of scientists.
Cm-β-CD is a compound formed by Carboxymethyl linking with cyclodextrin cavity through ether bond. It has the following characteristics: (1) carboxymethyl is linked to the edge of cyclodextrin cavity through ether bond, which not only breaks the original hydrogen bond network of cyclodextrin, but also forms hydrogen bond between oxygen atom in carboxyl group and hydrogen in water molecule, which greatly improves the water solubility of cyclodextrin; (2) cyclodextrin cavity The carboxyl group at the edge is an anion group, which can dissociate into coo ˉ in weak acid or alkaline environment, which can form complex with metal ions and improve the electrostatic interaction with other compounds. According to the above characteristics, CM-β-CD molecule with good water solubility can not only form inclusion complex with other compounds, but also can enhance the hydrogen bond, electrostatic and dipole interaction between CM-β-CD and other molecules. Therefore, CM-β-CD has good application in medicine, separation and analysis, biological science, environmental protection, sewage treatment and so on.
