Application of cyclodextrin without inclusion of guest molecules in cosmetics

Cyclodextrin can be used as deodorant in cosmetic formulation to eliminate the bad smell in cosmetics.

Because cyclodextrin cavity can store some bad smell of guest molecules, it is often added to perfume, disinfectant, preservatives and other deodorizing formulations, eliminating harmful gases in the body and environment.

Cyclodextrin will form a non-volatile inclusion compound after absorbing undesirable gases in aqueous or alcohol solutions. For example, powdered cyclodextrin derivatives with molecular size less than 12 mm are often used in baby diapers, sanitary napkins and towels to eliminate bad smell.

Enhance the anti acne ability of cosmetics. Cyclodextrin is often used as a formula to clean skin and treat acne due to its ability to absorb oil compounds.

Improve the safety of cosmetics. Cosmetics are usually made up of oil soluble ingredients and water-soluble ingredients. In order to make it form a uniform system, it is often necessary to add surfactants for emulsification.

Most of the surfactants are organic solvents, which are harmful to the skin. Cyclodextrin can replace surfactant to emulsify, so it can improve the safety of cosmetics.

The study shows that the inclusion of liquid paraffin and water in the emulsion of cyclodextrin will form a three phase stable system of inclusion complex and will not deteriorate.
