Shanghai Calcium Carbonate Factory Co. Ltd., formerly Shanghai Calcium Carbonate Factory, was founded in 1932 and is the birthplace of China’s light calcium carbonate industry. It is the first enterprise in China that produced light calcium carbonate products and pharmaceutical-grade and food-grade calcium carbonate. In 1959, it’s the first in China to start producing pharmaceutical-grade and food-grade light calcium carbonate, and its “Mei” calcium carbonate became the only “Export Inspection-free Product” in domestic calcium carbonate industry. During 1980-1981, we became the first in China to manufacture SG ultra fine active calcium carbonate, calcium carbonate for fermentation and food-grade calcium carbonate. From 2005, it has passed State Food and Drug Administration’s GMP certification for the first time and maintained the qualification to the present, and meanwhile, it has also passed the ISO22000 food safety management system certification. It’s the first enterprise with pharmaceutical-grade calcium carbonate production license in China, and now it is the raw materials supplier of many Sino-foreign joint ventures and large medical enterprises.

The factory has highly-advanced production technology and test equipment, and is especially able to produce pharmaceutical-grade calcium carbonate products that conform to the American, British and European pharmacopeia standards, as well as food-grade calcium carbonate products that conform to the FCCIV standard.
