□ Efficacy
Enramycin has a strong antibacterial effect on Clostridium, streptococcus, Staphylococcus and Diplococcus pneumonia etc. under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions. The main mechanism is restrain the formation of cell wall of bacteria. It acts at the stage of schizogenesis, has effects of disinfection and lysis. Minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) is lower than 0.39~3.12ug/ml. Thereinto, the MIC on Staphylococcus aureus is between 0.78~ 1.56 ug/ml, the MIC on Streptococcus hemolyticus and Streptococcus faecium are 0.045 ug/ml and 3.12 ug/ml, the MIC on Clostridium perfringens such as Bacillus tetani, Botox, Clostridium welchii etc. is lower than 0.78 ug/ml. Enramycin hardly has antibacterial effect on Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Salmonella, Shigella etc. and the MIC on them is more than 100 ug/ml.
Enramycin is an excellent growth-promoter and improves feed efficiency at very low inclusion levels in feed. Growth promotion and improved feed efficiency were observed in both broilers and pigs when Enramycin was incorporated in feed.
