Ceftiofur sodium is a sodium salt of Cefotaxime, belonging to the third-generation cephalosporin antibiotics. It was first launched in the United States in 1988. The chemical properties are stable, and the appearance is a light yellow to white crystalline powder. The aqueous solution has a short storage time, so it should be diluted into a solution before use.
Ceftiofur sodium has a wide antibacterial spectrum and strong antibacterial activity. It has strong antibacterial activity against Gram positive bacteria, Gram negative bacteria, and some anaerobic bacteria. Among them, it is similar or weaker against Gram positive bacteria compared to the first generation cephalosporins, and has strong antibacterial activity against Gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Pasteurella, etc. Suitable for respiratory and urinary tract infections caused by various sensitive bacteria, especially for the prevention and treatment of early death of chicken seedlings caused by Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus, etc., as well as wound infections caused by Escherichia coli yellow dysentery and umbilical cord cutting, ear tapping, tooth cutting, tail cutting, etc. in 1-day-old piglets, as well as infectious pleuropneumonia and bovine bronchopneumonia caused by hemophilic actinomycetes. It is generally not suitable for the treatment of mastitis in cows and goats.
Some researchers have conducted antibacterial tests on thousands of veterinary clinical isolates of pathogenic bacteria using Ceftiofur sodium, and the results show that the drug is one of the most antibacterial drugs. It has strong antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, multi killing and hemolytic Pasteurella, Salmonella typhi, and Streptococcus genus; It also has good effects on Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and anaerobic bacteria. It is mainly used for the treatment of respiratory diseases of horses, cattle, pigs (infectious pleuropneumonia), sheep, pets and 1 day old broilers infectious diseases. This product has the characteristics of complete intramuscular absorption and long elimination half-life. |
