Zinc pyrithione, also known as zinc pyrithione, zinc pyrithionium, zinc omadine, this zinc complex was synthesized as early as the 30s of the 20th century and used as a topical antifungal agent or antibacterial agent. At room temperature, it is white to yellow crystalline powder. Slightly characteristic odor. Insoluble in water. Zinc pyrithione forms an insoluble precipitate with cationic and nonionic surfactants, which is unstable to light and oxidants, and unstable to acids and bases at higher temperatures. It is not compatible with EDTA, and the nonionic surfactant Chemicalbook partially inactivates it. In the presence of heavy metals, chelation or anti-chelation occurs, and these chelate are poorly soluble in water. EEC and GB7916-87 stipulate that the maximum allowable concentration mass fraction of zinc pyrithione in cosmetics is 0.5%, which is only used in products that are washed off after use. One section of use concentration 250~1000mg/kg (active substance), can be used for gels, creams, lotions, powder and anti-dandruff shampoos, but also used in deodorization and disinfection products. |
