Dunaliella salina is a halophilic green microalgae, belonging to the phytoplankton group Chlorophyta, commonly found in sea salt fields.
It often turns red in high-salt environments. The most prominent feature of Dunaliella salina is that it contains a large amount of B-carotene, which is many times higher than the content of B-carotene in carrots and fruits.
