Commonly used as its hydrochloride, it is a yellow crystalline powder, odorless, and has a bitter taste; Has hygroscopicity; When exposed to light, the color gradually darkens and is prone to damage and failure in alkaline solutions. Easy to dissolve in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in chloroform or ether.
Pharmacological effects
The antibacterial spectrum and application are the same as tetracycline. This product has a slightly stronger therapeutic effect on intestinal infections, including amoebic dysentery, than tetracycline. There is a close cross resistance with tetracycline.
Broad spectrum antibiotics have inhibitory effects on both G+and G - bacteria, as well as certain inhibitory effects on chlamydia, mycoplasma rickettsiae, spirochetes, etc. Mainly used for preventing and treating infections of Escherichia coli and Salmonella in livestock and poultry (such as yellow and white dysentery in piglets, paratyphoid fever in young animals, etc.), as well as infections of Pasteurella and Brucella.
Indications and indications:
1. Streptococcal diseases caused by Streptococcus, Pasteurella, Erysipella, Pneumococcus, etc., porcine pulmonary disease, Wei's contracted rhinitis, edema disease, postpartum infections in mother animals, and various respiratory infections.
2. Livestock and poultry hemoplasmosis caused by protozoa (infection with red blood cells), toxoplasmosis, cattle and sheep flagellasis, pig trichinosis, etc.
3. Swine asthma (Mycoplasma pneumonia) and avian mycoplasma pneumonia (chronic respiratory disease) caused by Mycoplasma.
4. Used for sepsis, enteritis, rotting gill disease, white head and white mouth disease, vibriosis, eel red fin disease, etc. in aquatic products. |

Oxytetracycline is a tetracycline analog isolated from the actinomycete Streptomyces rimosus. Oxytetracycline is an antibiotic indicated for treatment of infections caused by Gram positive and Gram negative microorganisms such as Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Pasteurella pestis, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, and Diplococcus pneumoniae. It is used in studies on the oxytetracycline-resistance gene (otrA). Oxytetracycline hydrochloride is used to study phagosome-lysosome (P-L) fusion in P388D1 cells and antibiotic susceptibilities of Mycoplasma bovis isolates. |
