Description:
Hesperidin is a flavone glycoside named after the term ''hesperidium'', referring to citrus fruit which are the main source of hespridin which is a kind of citrus bioflavonoids. Hesperidine and its agly compounds of citrus fruits (alongside naringenin) and especially the peels and pericarp. Hesperidine was first isolated in 1828 by French chemist Lebreton from the white inner layer of citrus peels (mesocarp, albedo). It is a compound in citrus peels that gives the flavonoid hesperetin to the body, and this flavonoid mediates most benefits of hesperidin including an increase in circulation and possible brain protective effects.

Description:
Hesperidin is a plant chemical that is classified as a “bioflavonoid.” It is found primarily in citrus fruits. People use it as medicine.Hesperidin alone, or in combination with other citrus bioflavonoids (diosmin, for example), is most often used for blood vessel conditions such as hemorrhoids,varicose veins, and poor circulation (venous stasis). It is also used to treatlymphedema, a condition involving fluid retention
that can be a complication of breast cancer surgery.
Functions:
1. Hesperidin has antioxidant, anti inflammatory, hypolipidemic, vasoprotective and anticarcinogenic and cholesterol lowering actions.
2. Hesperidin can inhibit following enzymes: Phospholipase A2, lipoxygenase, HMG CoA reductase and cyclo-oxygenase.
3. Hesperidins improve the health of capillaries by reducing the capillary permeability.
4. Hesperidin are used to reduce hay fever and other allergic conditions by inhibiting the release of histamine from mast cells. The possible anti cancer activity of hesperidin could be explained by the inhibition of polyamine synthesis.
